Privacy Policy
Effective October 19, 2026
editake is an automatic video editor for creators, made by Easecomm LLC. This Privacy Policy explains, in plain terms, what editake collects, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.
One thing up front: in the editake iOS app your original video normally stays on your phone. To create your edit we upload the data we need — a compressed copy of the audio and a small preview image — and only after you allow AI processing. See “Your videos and audio” and “AI processing and your permission” below.
Information you give us
- Account: your email address and, if you create one, a password. Your password is stored only in a scrambled, unreadable form, and we keep an account ID so we can recognize you.
- Signing in with Apple or Google: if you choose one of them, we receive the email address they share with us (with Apple this can be a private relay address) and, if you share it, your name. With Google we also receive a link to your profile picture.
- Profile: a display name and the details you choose when setting up editake — such as the kind of creator you are, how many videos you make, how much time you spend editing, the language you usually create videos in and, on the website, your country.
Your videos and audio
How your footage is handled depends on where you use editake:
- In the editake iOS app, when you record or import a video and allow AI processing, we upload a small, compressed copy of its audio and a small preview image (thumbnail) to create your edit. Your original video normally stays on your phone, and the preview and final export happen on your phone.
- On the editake website — and, in one fallback case on iPhone where the app can’t reach your original in your photo library — we upload your full video so we can edit it.
- To build your edit we create a text transcript of what you said, and we save the editing choices you make (what to keep, remove or trim).
- If you export using our cloud service, we store the finished video so you can download it.
- We also collect basic technical details needed to process your video — such as its length, size, resolution, frame rate, file name, the date it was created, and the reference your device uses to find it in your library. The file name is also used as the project’s title.
AI processing and your permission
- editake’s automatic editing uses third-party service providers: a transcription (speech-to-text) provider receives your video’s audio to create a transcript, and an AI provider receives that transcript — and, when needed, short excerpts of the audio — to analyse the content and suggest edits and cuts. We do not send the AI provider your full video, name or email.
- In the iOS app, nothing from a video is sent for this processing until you tap “Allow” on the AI-processing screen. Your choice is saved to your account.
- You can withdraw your permission at any time in the app under Settings → Privacy. After that, new videos are not processed; a video whose processing has already started finishes, and videos already processed stay in your account until you delete them.
- If you don’t allow AI processing, you can still use the rest of the app, but new videos can’t be edited automatically.
Subscriptions and purchases
- If you subscribe in the iOS app, Apple processes the payment and we never receive your card details. Apple tells us about your subscription — the plan, its status, trial and renewal dates, the price and currency, and a transaction identifier — and we store this with your account to give you access to your plan.
- If you subscribe on our website, a payment processor handles the payment; we store a customer reference and the status of your subscription.
- We count the videos processed in each billing period so we can apply your plan’s monthly allowance.
App usage and technical information
- In the iOS app we record a few events about the subscription screen — when it is shown or closed, which plan is selected, purchases, trials and restores — together with the app version, a random identifier created for each installation of the app, and your account ID when you are signed in. We use them to understand and improve the subscription experience, for example to compare versions of that screen.
- When you sign in, our authentication provider records your IP address and the type of device or browser, to keep your account secure. Our servers also keep technical logs of requests and errors to run and secure the service.
Website, affiliate links and cookies
When you arrive through a creator’s link, the creator’s code appears in the page URL you open. We do not save that code on your device: we use no cookies, localStorage or other storage to record referrals.
- If you create an account or subscribe after arriving through a creator link, we link that referral to your account on our servers, so the creator can be paid a commission. It is recorded against the account, not your browser.
- You never need to type an affiliate code. An invalid or inactive code, or your own code, is ignored.
- We keep your chosen plan in your browser for up to 24 hours before you create an account, so you can continue where you left off.
- We use only necessary cookies: your account session, the language you choose, and the cookies Stripe sets during payment to process it securely.
- This website uses no analytics tools and no advertising pixels. If that changes, you will see a choice before any collection, as the law requires.
Service providers we work with
We rely on service providers that process information on our behalf, and we share with each one only what it needs to do its job:
- Transcription (speech-to-text) providers — receive your video’s audio.
- AI providers — receive your transcript and, when needed, short audio excerpts to suggest edits and cuts.
- Cloud hosting, database and storage providers — store your account, files, transcripts and edits.
- Sign-in providers you choose to use, such as Apple or Google.
- Payment providers — Apple for subscriptions in the iOS app, and a payment processor for purchases on our website.
How we use your information
- To provide editake: transcribe your audio, create an automatic edit, let you review and adjust it, and export the result.
- To run and secure your account, to manage your subscription, and to contact you about the service.
- To improve editake: we use your corrections to measure and improve editing quality, and the subscription-screen events described above to improve that screen.
When we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising or to track you across other apps or websites. We share information only with the service providers described above, who process it on our behalf, and where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your account, videos, audio, previews, transcripts and edits until you delete them or delete your account — they don’t expire on a fixed timer. We keep subscription and payment records for as long as we need them for billing, accounting and legal obligations. Technical logs are kept for a limited time.
Your choices and rights
- AI processing: allow or withdraw it in the app under Settings → Privacy.
- Delete a project: this removes that project’s files (audio, video, previews and the finished export) and its records.
- Delete your account: in the app (Settings → Delete account) or by contacting us. This deletes your account and its data, except records we must keep for billing or legal reasons. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription made through Apple — cancel it in your Apple account settings.
- Access and update: you can update your profile in the app, or contact us about the information we hold. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your data.
How we protect your information
We send your data over encrypted (HTTPS) connections and limit access so you can only see your own information. Our security credentials stay on our servers, never in the app.
Where your data is processed
editake and our service providers may process your information in the United States and other countries. Wherever it is processed, this policy applies.
Children
editake is not intended for children, or for anyone below the age required to agree to online services in their country.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we’ll update the date above and, for important changes, tell you in the app or by email.
